The association “Polifonica Santa Barbara” was founded in 2011 by the will of some friends united by the passion for choral music and legally registered in 2013.

Directed by maestro Marco Sotgiu, the Polifonica, carries on a repertoire that ranges from ancient music in its sacred and profane value, as well as the traditional and popular Sardinian. He also engages in the Gregorian repertoire that he presents at the great and solemn religious celebrations and beyond.

The choir is composed of 13 elements that form a staff of sopranos, half sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. The Polifonica Santa Barbara, in its 10 years of activity, represented Sardinia, in 2016 and 2019 at the “Festival Internazionale Alta Pusteria” in Trentino and, in 2017, at the International Festival of Calella, in Spain. In the Sardinian territory he participated several times in the International Choral Festival “Al Sole della Sardegna” in 201620172018.

On site, he carries out, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration and the ProLoco, various initiatives such as the summer concert “Singing under the Stars” and the end-of-year concert called “Christmas Concert”, also participates in the event, organized by social services, “Tottus Impari”. On August 18th, we were invited to perform in our country, on the occasion of the stage of “Miss Italy on Tour 2019”.

From 18 to 20 October, the Polifonica, guest of the choir “Isorelle”, represented Gonnosfanadiga in Genoa for the event “Chiese in Musica” performing in two concerts, one at the Convento de frati Cappuccini in Pontedecimo, the other in the Hall of Representation Palazzo Tursi. He also animated the Holy Mass at the Parish “Abbazia di Santo Stefano” Genoa.
