The Corale Polifonica Tempera was founded in 1993 as a parish choir. Later, after having approached different forms of vocal music, ranging from classical polyphony to the folk tradition of our lands, the choir was formed in association with the purposes of cultural promotion, discovery, maintenance and dissemination of traditions, as well as social promotion with beneficial implications.
Over the years the Tempera Polyphonic Association has availed itself of the collaboration of choral groups and orchestral formations of the province of L’Aquila such as “L’Aquila Brass Ensemble” and the class of “Organ and Chapel Masters” of the Conservatory A. Casella of L’Aquila.
On June 9, 2007 he obtained the 1st Absolute Prize at the “Music Contest”, held in Campovalano (TE). In 2007 the choir recorded an unpublished song dedicated to the L’Aquila festival of St. Agnes and, in the spring of 2008, a CD of folk songs typical of the Abruzzo tradition entitled “Cantando lungo il fiume Vera”. The Associazione Polifonica Tempera has often performed for charity in favor of unfortunate people as in the case of a concert inside the Prison of L’Aquila giving, through Christmas carols, a moment of serenity to the prisoners. The choral group also had the honor of animating solemn Masses for special occasions even outside abruzzo as in the Upper Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi or in the Sanctuary of St. Rita in Cascia, gathering many consensuses everywhere.
In March 2009 the choir participated in the 27th Choral Festival City of Clusone (Bergamo) tightening relationships of deep friendship with the Choir “Idica”. On December 18, 2009 she participated in the Christmas concert in the classroom of Montecitorio in Rome and on that occasion the Conductor conducted the Anthem of Italy performed by the eleven choirs present. On October 26, 2010 he participated in the first edition of the ARCA Choral Competition, in Atri, winning the special prize for the best stage presence thanks to the traditional costumes worn by the singers and philologically recreated taking inspiration from the real ones.
Among the last commitments outside its territory there were the participation in the Salerno Festival in November 2011 and that of the International Competition City of Rimini in October 2012 in which the association represented Italy in the section dedicated to popular singing. It never fails to actively participate in city initiatives such as the traditional Christmas Cantata or the Perdonanza Celestiniana; this is why on the occasion of the National Meeting of the Alpini held in L’Aquila in May 2015 he organized a concert in Tempera hosting an alpine choir from Bergamo. Since 2011 the choir has also organized a Christmas festival in Tempera entitled “Natale sul Vera” inviting from time to time other choirs from the regional and national territory.
He shares with the other choirs of L’Aquila the misfortune of no longer having a venue, after the earthquake of 2009 but this has not prevented him, albeit with sacrifices, to participate in concerts in Alessandria, in the province of Bergamo, in Montechiaro d’Asti, in Rovereto on several occasions, in Brentonico in collaboration with the Choir “Soldanella. In July 2016 the choir ranked first in the first edition of the competition for folk choirs All Music Festival Vittoria held in Alanno.
Since 2005 the choir is directed by the teacher Isabella Aromatario graduated in oboe at the Conservatory of L’Aquila who, despite her young age, has behind her an intense concert activity in various instrumental formations and previous choral experience in the group “Fontevetica” of Castel Del Monte (AQ).
