The “Edi Toni” Choir was formed in 1978 as part of parish activities, thus initially addressing an essentially liturgical repertoire.
Over the years, animated by a great passion for choral music and the joy of “being together singing” has expanded its staff, composed of amateur singers, and at the same time has expanded its musical interests, giving life to a repertoire ranging from classical polyphony, sacred and profane, up to popular music, folkloristic and negro spiritual. She is currently a member of the Regional Choirs Association of Umbria.
Frequent concert activity. He has participated in several Regional and National choral festivals, also performing with orchestral formations in the theaters of Terni, Orvieto and Fabriano. In 1997 he participated in the VIII International Choral Singing Competition of Verona, ranking 2nd in the category of classical polyphony with obligatory piece, at the V International Competition of Sacred Music “Giovanni Pierìuigi da Palestrina” in Rome, ranking 3rd. He also participated in the 1st International Festival of Gregorian Chant at the Shrine of Vescovio. In July 1998, he participated in the 4th International Competition of Sacred Music in Greece, in Preveza, obtaining the 3rd place; and finally in October 1999 he participated in the 13th International Choral Competition in Prague, obtaining the 3rd place. He participated in various events for the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000. In February 2001, 2002 and 2003, she performed at the International Prize “S. Valentino d’oro”. In 2003 she sang in the Patriarchal Liberian Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, in the Shrine of St. Damian in Assisi and in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin. On March 18, 2005 he participated in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the death of Msgr. Oscar Romero taking care of the music of the premiere of the theatrical show staged in the Cathedral of Terni. In February 2006 she sang on the live television of RaiUno, on the occasion of the Feast of the Promise for the Valentinian celebrations, at the Cathedral of Terni and in December 2006, she participated, at the express invitation of the Artistic Conductor of the Municipal Conservatory of Katerini (Greece), at the X International Choral Festival.
In February 2009 he participated in the 40th Anniversary of the International Prize S.Golden Valentine. In December 2009 and in 2010 he participated in several Choral Festivals: Allerona, Spoleto, Assisi, Trevi, Perugia, Rome. In October 2011 he participated in the 1st National Competition of Sacred and Liturgical Music in Andora, obtaining the second place. In July 2012 he participated in the Narnia Festival AccademyInternational with the performance of the Coronation Mass, for choir and orchestra only, by W.A. Mozart performed in the Cathedral of Narni.
The Choir has been directed, since its foundation, by Maestro Paolo De Santis.
