The Polhymnos choir was born in Lanciano (Ch) in 2011. It is formed by singers passionate about music, not professionals, gathered by the desire to be together with the intention of enriching themselves with new musical genres. The vocal ensemble immediately developed as an emerging group in a cappella music. The repertoire is mainly dedicated to ancient, medieval and Renaissance music, from sacred motets and madrigals to secular music. The Polhymnos choir is not liturgical but carries out a research and recovery of the sacred choral repertoire, reconquering the traditions of sacred polyphonic singing of the historical Italian musical chapels. In the choral studio, the group is sensitive to the search for contemporary music of polyphonic and contrapuntal style. Numerous participations in sacred events, choral reviews and competitions, where the Polhymnos choir has always distinguished itself brilliantly, enjoying success at national and international level and winning numerous awards and diplomas of merit. The choir also collaborates with orchestral, chamber and symphonic ensembles of the territory, with the “Fenaroli Civic School” of Lanciano and important institutions. Conductor of the choir, since its foundation, is Maestro Nicolò La Farciola.
