The choir “Armonie d’Abruzzo in canto” was born from the idea and the will of a group of friends who cultivating a passion for music and singing have gathered under the skilful and competent guidance of the Maestro and Artistic Director Gabriele Di Pasquale.
Consisting of a stable staff of about thirty choristers and instrumentalists, the Choir is composed mostly of non-professionals, coming from different locations in the Province of Chieti and Pescara.
Accordionists belong to the accordion orchestra “Diapason Armonico”, also founded by Maestro Gabriele Di Pasquale. Most of the musicians are students or already graduated from the Conservatory “Luisa D’Annunzio” in Pescara.
The Choir has a repertoire that ranges from the sacred to the profane. During the Christmas and Easter period he performs pieces by excellent authors such as Sant’Alfonso Maria De Liguori, George Friedrich, Haendel, Francois Couperin, John Rutter, while in the summer he performs a typically popular program with pieces by authors of the past such as Francesco Paolo Tosti, Antonio Di Iorio, Ennio Vetuschi, Alfonso Bizzarri, Cesare De Titta, Luigi Illuminati, Tommaso Bruni, up to interpret pieces by contemporary authors such as Vincenzo and Camillo Coccione, Francesco Ciccarelli, Ireneo Recchia.
Over time the Choir has tried to vary its way of presenting itself to the public by proposing not only a simple succession of songs (as usually happens in most of the performances of the Choirs), but an organic set of texts, musical and instrumental pieces.
In order to improve and renew itself continuously, giving the public genuine and intense emotions, the choir “Armonie d’Abruzzo in canto” continues its journey with exciting energy, under the always careful and driving direction of its Artistic Director Gabriele Di Pasquale, author of most of the arrangements.
Alongside the attention to the deepening and artistic and vocal improvement of the group, the Choir tends more and more to embrace the vein of polyphony, trying to refer to that form so dear to Maestro Alfonso Bizzarri, and inspired by the bel canto of Maestro Francesco Paolo Tosti.
Despite being a recently created formation, “Armonie d’Abruzzo in canto” has within its group many elements with several years of experience in the choral field and with participation in events and concerts of a national nature.
The choir “Armonie d’Abruzzo in canto” has its own Board of Directors, whose President is Raffaello Pusticcio. The other members are Roberto Olivieri, Manuela D’Amico, Hilda Medeiros, and Gianluca Ricci. All the members of the Board of Directors are themselves singers of the Choir.
