CHOIR CONDUCTING COURSE

“From vocal warm-up to concert performance
- Individual vocal warm-up
- Polyphonic exercises and vocalisations for the choir
- Choice of repertoire, transport and adaptations
- Various problems related to group management
- Practice with a laboratory choir
The students enrolled in the course take an active part in all the exercises as conductors and singers.
In agreement with the teacher, they can propose the study of pieces.
Some of the pieces will be of a practical nature and will be performed during the course. Some more complex scores will be the subject of theoretical study.

FABRIZIO BARCHI
Fabrizio Barchi studied at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music. He has been performing in concerts since 1979 and has been involved for several years in the diffusion of choral singing in compulsory schools, a subject for which he is frequently called upon to hold courses for teachers and choir directors.
He has collaborated with various schools of all levels on projects focusing on education in music and singing as an irreplaceable formative, cultural and human practice for young people. He currently directs, in addition to the “Iride” choir, the “Primo Levi” and “Enriques” high school choirs and the “Eos” girls’ choir. He has conducted various children’s choirs and collaborates with primary schools in Ostia Lido; he performs an intense concert activity with the choir “Musicanova” with which he has made several recordings. Leading his own groups he has won prizes and awards in choral competitions at regional, national and international level.
He is vice-master of the Basilica of St. John Lateran and teacher of Choir Direction for Education at the Conservatory of Campobasso.
