The girls’ choir “Vognyk” of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth was founded in 1970 by Svitlana Stepanenko, an honored cultural worker of Ukraine, who worked with him fruitfully for almost 50 years.
Since 2019, the ensemble has been led by the famous modern choirmaster Olena Solovey.
The Vognyk Choir of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth is widely known among fans of choral art. Concerts at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the National House of Organ and Chamber Music, and other famous concert halls in Kyiv have become traditional for the ensemble.
The choir is an active promoter of Ukrainian contemporary choral music. The choir is actively touring the cities of Ukraine and the world. Listeners of many countries, including Ukraine, Russia, the Baltics, France, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Italy, Moldova, note modern authors.
The creative life of the team is full of various projects. Recently, the choir participated in the modern project “Summer Children’s Choir Assembly”, co-authored by Elena Solovey, and the project “Christmas Meetings”, which was implemented in 2020 in a new format – a video concert with live sound (author Ruben Tolmachev).
Currently, “Vognyk” is immersed in the embodiment of a modern project in the genre of theatrical and choral performance. Also a bright page of the band is the performance of colorful folklore – it’s Celtic music, Irish, Finnish, Estonian, Bulgarian and much more. This allows you to constantly improvise and experiment with singing manners. The choir is constantly evolving, increasing its skills, mastering new areas of choral art.
In the modern world, the Vognyk choir is not only a choir, it is a modern creative choral space in the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth, where there is a place for every singing female soul.
