Born in 1990 by the will of the priest Prof. Giovanni Dileone, choir director (student, among others, of Lorenzo Perosi, at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome), the Choir began to learn Gregorian chant. Later he moved on to the operatic and sacred repertoire, until he approached more modern authors.
Particular attention is paid to the music of Saverio Mercadante, of whom in 1996 he recorded some choirs of his works. In April 1993 it was legally constituted in a non-profit "Associazione Culturale Musicale", and the state is president of the chorister and founding member Pietro Galetta. The Choir consists of about 50 elements and is divided into four sections: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Already directed by the priest Prof. Giovanni Dileone, it is currently under the guidance of Maestro Prof. ALFREDO LUIGI CORNACCHIA as well as Artistic Conductor, assisted by the collaborators Maestri Giovanna Sapone (artist of the Choir at the Petruzzelli Foundation and Theaters of Bari), Angela Lomurno, Lorena Perrucci, Annunziata Loporcaro, Enrica Leone, Maria Scalese. Open to collaboration with the realities of the territory, the Choir has always responded with enthusiasm to various musical projects, within various billboards, such as the "Duni Festival 2002" of Matera with "Carmina Burana". There are several events realized with artists of caliber, such as Katia Ricciarelli, Michele Mirabella, Michele Placido, Sergio Rubini.
Particularly versatile is the repertoire, ranging from the opera choirs of the most famous melodramas of the nineteenth century, to the modern sacred repertoire, to get to the choral arrangements of pop and rock songs. Also versatile is the mixture with various formations (choir and wind orchestra; string orchestra; organ; piano; with choral formations of children's voices). A particular merit of the choral team is the promotion, with its concerts, of charitable initiatives of significant social interest in favor of various associations, such as Caritas, the Italian Red Cross, Telethon, AIDO and ANT. There are various collaborations with the Conservatory of Matera with the representation of the Elixir of Love and the Carmina Burana. There have been several interactions with other Associations of the Province for the performance of Mozart's Requiem in nearby Bitonto and at the University of Bari.
