The polyphonic choir of Carbonia S. Cecilia was born in 1946 on the initiative of the young man, in that period, M ° Severino Porcu who in a short time led the choir to perform in various places in Sardinia obtaining a widespread appreciation for singing and the high quality of interpretations.
The difficult sequence of historical events in the mining town of Carbonia, caused the dissolution of the choir in 1959, because many members of the choir were forced to leave the territory for work. Reconstituted in 1974 thanks to many members who moved for the love of "bel canto", today the S. Cecilia choir consists of 30 members and is directed by M ° Marina Figus, a pupil of Maestro Severino Porcu.
The choir has a wide repertoire that includes sacred music, popular music, Sardinian folk music and typically Italian music.
