The popular chorality in Cerlongo, has its roots in the history of the old peasant civilization. After a period of long inactivity due to the dramas of the Second World War, he recovers and lives a long season of interest and involvement that will lead a group of passionate lovers of tradition, to join and give life to "I Cantori del Caldone".

The group was formed in 1977, developed in the following years and gradually established itself as one of the most valid and genuine interpreters of this musical trend. The ensemble grows in quality and importance, always attracts new choristers and begins a concert activity and cultural diffusion that sees it excel in the region.

He has given and still holds concerts throughout Italy and Europe (France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, etc.). always receiving flattering appreciation.

But popular song being by its nature the most spontaneous and authentic expression of the musicality of a land, follows its social evolution, is permeated by its values, expresses its poetry. Precisely to be a constant mirror of reality, for its inescapable bond with man and the community in which it lives, it keeps up with the times, evolves with the context in which it is placed and makes explicit the multiple suggestions that are gradually imprinted in its history. It is therefore natural that the constant achievements of individual knowledge inevitably change its contours and soul.

Today the songs of the farmyard, the court, the tavern and the village are no longer sung, enchanting in their humility but enclosed within limited horizons. Now, thanks also to the media, we even open up to the world and many beautiful melodies of foreign folklore find, rightly, habitual reception in the most experienced concert programs.

The new director Nerile Januskaite, young but with significant academic studies behind her, has been called to carry out this step. His musical sensitivity has managed in a short time to shape the expression of the group and to give it a new imprint, with vocals, nuances, effects and contributions of elementary instruments that attract the attention of everyone, even young people. This puts the complex at the forefront of the path full of seduction of a new musicality, original but still authentic because it is always in tune with the feeling of the people.
