The parish choir "Maria Santissima della Pietra" takes its name from the title with which the Madonna is venerated in Chiaravalle Centrale, a small town in the Calabrian hinterland with a strong Marian devotion.
The choir mainly deals with parish liturgical animation, also participating in exhibitions and trying to create moments of collaboration with the choirs of neighboring parishes.
The musical repertoire varies from the most classical genre to the most modern singing, passing through folk songs. The almost 30 members that make up the choir (aged between 14 and 75 years) perform the songs in polyphony, as there are sopranos, altos, tenors and non-professional basses, united by the joy of singing.
The choir also avails itself of the presence of a flutist and a violinist, who give their support especially in the strong times of the liturgical year.
Since 2001 the choir has been directed by Stefania Sestito, who is also its organist.
The purpose of the choir is to translate the song into prayer according to the Augustinian motto "He who sings prays twice".
