The Santa Cecilia Choir, which later took the name of Coro San Giorgio, was founded in November 1981 and was entrusted to the direction of Ricangelo Consonni and the guidance of Maestro Carlo Valtolina, a well-known musician and composer from Corna, who graduated from the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan in “Choral music and choir conducting”.
It continues the activity and tradition of the sacred singing school “Santa Cecilia” of Cornate d’Adda active since 1925, inspired by Christian principles and love for music.
It currently has 28 choristers divided into four sections: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.
His repertoire consists of over 250 pieces of music, mostly of a religious nature.
The group mainly carries out liturgical service at the Parish of S. Giorgio Martire in Cornate d’Adda.
To this task he has added the participation in polyphonic competitions and autonomous concert activities or in collaboration with other musical groups, such as the Corale di Paderno d’Adda and recently with the Parish Choir of Bellusco and the Musical Group S. Alessandro di Colnago. In 2003 he also organized a vocal course, open to the public, held by Maestro Massimiliano Italiani, tenor of the Coro della Scala in Milan.
The Choir has been collaborating for years as organist of Prof. Silvana Radaelli.
The Choir is currently directed by Maestro Roberto Mucci.
