Biography

The Perfecta Laetitia Polyphonic Choir was founded in Gela in 1998.

It is directed by Maestro Melissa Minardi who is collaborated by the pianist M° Nuccia Scerra. The association Coro Perfecta Laetitia, chaired by Giacomo Giurato, is the “Schola Cantorum” of the Church of St. John the Apostle the Evangelist of Gela in which the choristers learn the notions of singing and music. In the year 2000 on the occasion of the Jubilee, during the Wednesday general audience the group sang in the presence of Pope John Paul II and in April 2014 carried out the ministry of liturgical animation on the occasion of the Episcopal Ordination of Msgr. Gisana, Bishop of the Diocese of Piazza Armerina. On 01 July 2012 he held the concert “Planctus Marie” with the Camerata Polifonica Siciliana at the Church of San Carlo Borromeo in Noto promoted by the Associazione Concerti di Noto performing the world premiere of an unpublished piece by the composer Giovanni Ferrauto, “Le Tue Mani”. In August 2012 the choir performed in a concert entitled “From the steppes to the Mediterranean” accompanied by the Astana State Orchestra of Kazakhstan conducted by Maestro Abzal Mukhitdinov and Maestro Francesco Falci. On July 25, 2013, in Catania, as part of the events “FESTA DELL’OPERA MEDITERRANEA” the Perfecta Laetitia Choir took part in the world premiere of the opera “Mena” by Plinio Maggi on a libretto by the essayist Carlo Majorana Gravina, based on the novel “I Malavoglia” by Giovanni Verga. For the occasion, the ASTANA OPERA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OF KAZAKHSTAN was conducted by Maestro Giovanni Ferrauto who curated the orchestration

of the music.

On July 31, 2013 the Choir performed to support research in favor of AIL and AIPAMM with the Grand Concert of Solidarity that was held at the Teatro Eschilo in Gela. Also this time accompanied by the Astana Opera Symphonic Orchestra of Kazakhstan and the pianist Alberto Ferro, conducted for the occasion by Maestro Francesco Falci and Maestro Abzal Mukhitdinov. On December 13, 2013 he held a concert “Notes to the Museum” at the Regional Archaeological Museum of Gela as part of the program “Live the city”. On 05 January 2014 he held at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Gela the “Concert of the Three Kings” on the occasion of Christmas. On May 17, 2014 on the occasion of the Night of Museums he held a concert in the Acropolis of the Regional Museum of Gela On September 27, 2014 he held the “Concert for Life” in the city of Gela in favor of ADMO – Association of Bone Marrow Donors.

In 2015, a great concert for the poor conducted by Maestro Don Marco Frisina with the Symphonic Orchestra of Kazakhstan. December 2015, solidarity concert on the occasion of which the Choir managed to collect tons of food to be allocated to poor families. In 2016 some members of the choir were selected for the Concert in Sala Nervi on the occasion of the Jubilee of Chorales, directed by Mgr. Marco Frisina in the presence of over 10,000 spectators. December 2017 : Concert “Donatori di musica’ il coro Perfetta Letizia per il sociale. Christmas concert dedicated to the guests of the Assisted Health Residence c / o the S. Barbara Clinic in Gela. December 2017 : Great Christmas concert c/o the parish of S.John the Evangelist of Gela in the presence of St.And. Bishop Don Rosario Gisana and the Regional Councillor for the Family Dr. Mariella Ippolito. The Choir performed with the small singers of the children’s voices who joined the musical literacy workshops that the Choir has implemented thanks to a European call. The Concert had the patronage of the Regional Department of the Family and the Presidency of the Sicilian Regional Assembly. December 2017: Great Christmas Concert at the Cathedral of the city of Niscemi. The Concert had the patronage of the Regional Department of the Family and the Presidency of the Sicilian Regional Assembly.

June 2018 the Coro Perfetta Letizia organizes the 1st edition of the SACRED NIGHT of the CHOIRS. An extraordinary evening that involved 4 Sicilian choral realities: La Schola Cantorum V.Majorana di Licata , directed by Maestro Gaetano Torregrossa – the Polyphonic Choir G.Lo Nigro di Canicatti, directed by M° Carmelo Mantione and assisted by the singing teacher, Daniela Carlino – Il Coro Mater Dei di Ispica, directed by M° Carmela Avola and Il Coro polifonico Perfetta Letizia di Gela directed by M° Melissa Minardi and accompanied on the piano by M° Nuccia Scerra- March 2019 : Animation of SS. MASS from the Cathedral of Piazza Armerina live on RAIUNO officiated by S.And. Bishop Don Rosario Gisana. August 209: Animation of the SS. MASS from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears in Syracuse live on RETEQUATTRO on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the tearing of the painting of the Madonna. September 2019: the Perfect Letizia choir represents the city of Gela at the Rassegna dei Cori in NOTO, with the patronage of the Municipality of Noto, Unesco heritage and of ARS CORI and FENIARCO. October 2019 ONE VOICE – SICILY AND SWEDEN IN CONCERT. The Swedish choir Vasterleds kammarkor from Stockholm shares with the choir Perfetta letizia an extraordinary concert held in the Church of the Rosary in Gela. December 2019 : Concert Casa Circondariale Gela “Music will make you free” with the patronage of the Ministry of Justice – “Dulcis Virgo Maria” Concert for the Immaculate Church S.Francesco d’Assisi Gela – “Christmas in the Cathedral Grand Christmas Concert c / o the Cathedral of Piazza Armerina – Great Christmas Concert in Gela Concert of the Perfect Choir Letizia, guest the Mariele Ventre Choir of Ragusa. The December concerts have been included in the national Nativitas 2019 circuit under the patronage of ARS CORI and FENIARCO
