The choir “Sos Balaros” was born from the passion for the musical culture of Sardinian choral singing of a group of boys from the village of Monti (SS) with the aim of evolving the “Youth Choir – Cultural Association Confraternity San Gavino” founded by the director Gabriele Barria.
The team is composed of twenty young passionate choristers with an average age of 25 years. We focus on young people because we believe that culture and traditions are the driving force for any community dedicated to development. The confirmation of these important aspects is the choice of our artistic director who is only 24 years old (Neo-Laureando i n conservatorio a Cagliari i n canto Lirico).
- In 2018 we presented the song I nedito Adiosu Babbu (lyrics: Francesca Pes, music: Gervasia Pes, harmonization: Gabriele Barria);
- In 2019 we presented the song Savitri Symphony (lyrics: A. Pilo – Ed Sheeran, music: Ed Sheeran, harmonization: Gabriele Barria)
The choir in October 2020 participates in the first National competition for choirs “A Manu Tenta” in honor of the master Bobore Nuvoli, winning the 2nd absolute prize in the category “traditional songs” with the song Savitri Symphony.
In November 2020 the choir was established as a Cultural Association precisely to help promote Sardinian culture and traditions, organizing multiple events of various kinds to involve the entire population without age limits.
