Biography

The “Interparish Choir of Nicosia” represents a reality already present for more than a decade in service at the Diocese of Nicosia, Cathedral Basilica.
The choir was consolidated in 2014 thanks to the strong motivation to come together to form a single city reality that involved all the parishes. It continues over the years with the involvement of the choristers by the referent Valentina D’Alessandro (graduated in Animation for the Liturgy, in service since 1999, psalmist and chorister at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Nicholas of Bari in Nicosia).
The choir unites people of different ages from the various Nicosian parishes, and is composed of about 35 members divided into sections of voices in sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, led in the direction by the liturgical animator Valentina D’Alessandro and accompanied on the organ by Master Organists (Roberto Castiglia, Ermanno Provitina), while at the concerts performing together with the Orchestra for Winds Banda S. Felice. The choir performs a repertoire ranging from liturgical singing, folk singing, classical singing and light music. There are numerous occasions for meeting in song that vary from solemn celebrations included in the different liturgical times of the Diocese, Jubilees, priestly and diaconal ordinations, concerts for citizenship.
