The Choral Association “Palmarese” of Palmas Arborea (Oristano, Italy), was founded in 2003 by a group of people in love with Sardinian folk song. After an initial period of adaptation and study of traditional pieces, the choir changes artistic director, and consequently changes its repertoire, inserting a series of unpublished pieces (text and music). Now, the choir boasts a vast and varied repertoire, from profane popular songs to sacred ones (Christmas and Easter), to a totally new mass.
the Choral Association, as well as participating in events throughout the Sardinian territory, organizes every year different shows and divided into three times of the calendar year:
“Melodias”, a regional choral festival during the Christmas period, “Palmas canta e balla” summer event, which includes the participation of various artists and musicians of the place; finally, for some years he has been staging a “sacred drama” on the “passion and death of Jesus Christ”, generally recited on a subject in sardinian language, written by authors of the past.
In 2016 he won in Cagliari the choral competition “l’Isola in… canta”, organized by f.e.r.s.a.c.o, in September 2018 participates in the international competition “Porec music festival” in Croatia, organized by the German association “INTERKULTUR”, reporting an important Silver category.
In 2019 finally another Silver medal at the International Competition “Praga Cantat”, in Prague.
The Choral Association is directed by Maestro Costantino Mirai, graduated in artistic singing and choral singing at the State Conservatory of Cagliari.
