The Choir of the Holy Spirit Parish has a tradition of over thirty years and was formed with the construction of the church dedicated to the Holy Spirit in Palo del Colle (Ba) in 1986.
Over the years and, thanks to the passion and attention to singing and music in the liturgy of our then parish priest Don Marino Decaro, who died recently, the choir has grown both in terms of the number of its members and on an experiential and musical level.
In 2009 the guide was entrusted to Maestro Gianluca Borreggine trained at the School of Sacred Music of Bari and the Conservatory of Music of Bari Niccolò Piccinni respectively in liturgical repertoire and opera singing.
On November 1, 2018, on the occasion of the Solemnity of All Saints, the choir was officially named after the martyr Santa Scorese, a young woman killed at the age of 23 at the hands of her stalker who is now venerated as a Servant of God and on the way to beatification.
With the support of our current parish priest Don Vito Didonna, the members of the choir felt they had to dedicate the choir to the memory of Santa who offered her service as a singer within the community. His life, his works and his writings bear witness to the beauty of faith and the richness of living in communion with others.
The Corale Santa Scorese represents the unitary choir of the parish as it is made up of the different groups that offer the service of the animation of the Holy Masses. It brings together children, young people and adults and has a diversified liturgical repertoire that intersperses more solemn songs and recollection with more rhythmic songs and involvement in line with the predispositions and ages of the different participants.
Specifically, the musical repertoire of the choir ranges between different songs for the liturgy composed by: Don Antonio Parisi, Mons. Marco Frisina, Gen Verde, Gen Rosso, Rinnovamento nello Spirito, Don Marino Decaro, Piera Cori, Marcello Giombini, Chiara Casucci, Mite Balduzzi, Pierangelo Sequeri, Taizé community, but also Mozart and Bartolucci.
The polyphonic choir is composed of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, it is completed with the presence of several instrumentalists such as organists and guitarists.
During these years the choir has animated various liturgical celebrations both in its own parish and in other communities of the province. In addition, it collaborates with the interparish choir that unites the whole country for the annual celebration of Corpus Christi and other liturgies of diocesan interest. Among the most recent events in which he took part we remember: "Rassegna di cori per Santa Cecilia" (2011) and "Cori in festa S. Crocifisso di Auricarro" (2018) at the Church of S. Maria La Porta in Palo del Colle together with the other choirs of the country; "Fiamma viva d'Amore" Pentecost concert (2018) and "Corale Santa Scorese" (2018) organized in the parish community.
