Founded in 1996 by Nicola Russo, the Polyphonic Choir of Pescara is composed of about thirty elements.
He has given concerts in Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Lazio, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Campania, Sardinia.
Abroad, in 2001 in Graz in Austria and Poland, in 2010, in the cities of Gdynia, Pelplin and Puck in the International Festival Cantemus Omnes 2010.
He played “Nonsense” by G. Petrassi, “Messa da Requiem” by W.A. Mozart, “Mass in F major.” by J.S.Bach and “Misa tango” by L. Bacalov.
He has collaborated with the Pescara Symphony Orchestra, the Abruzzo Youth Orchestra and with artists such as Luis Bacalov, Oscar winner for the soundtrack of the film “Il postino”, of which he performed the world premiere of the opera “Canticum belli et pacis” and Hector Ulises Passarella, one of the most famous bandoneòn performers in the world.
He has successfully participated in national competitions, often placing himself in the very first positions.
He has participated in some festivals, including, in 2008, the XI International Festival of Choral Singing “Alta Pusteria” where he represented Italy at the opening concert, among about 100 participating groups.
Since 2005 he has collaborated with Dacia Maraini and some Italian actors including Arnaldo Ninchi and Annalisa Picconi; this experience, in 2009, on the stage of the Teatro Parioli in Rome, saw the representation of “Il respiro leggero dell’Abruzzo”, directed by the famous writer.
In 2011 he organized the 1st European Choral Festival “A. Aglione” in various cities of Abruzzo.
In 2012 he proposed, in collaboration with the Orchestra “B. Marcello” of Teramo the “Requiem Mass” of W.A. Mozart in the musical seasons of Pescara (Teatro Massimo), Campobasso (Teatro Savoia), Sulmona (Teatro Pacifico) and in Rome, as part of the Easter Festival 2012, in the Church of Jesus.
In 2014 he participated in the live television broadcast “La Canzone di Noi” on Tv2000.
In 2016 he also collaborated with the Sofia Symphony Orchestra with whom he proposed some operatic pieces.
He has recorded two CDs of mixed polyphonic a cappella songs.
