The Iride choir is composed of about 30 young high school and university students who have gained choral experience in the various schools of origin and in particular in the “Primo Levi” high school in Rome.
He has performed in important events: meeting of the Holy Father John Paul II, with President Ciampi and at the inauguration of the 2004-2005 school year.
The group has participated in various choral competitions, obtaining the following results:
Regional Competition “City of Rieti” 1999 – 2nd place;
National Competition of Roccasecca 2001 – 2nd place;
National Competition of Benevento 2001 and 2003 – 2nd place (first not awarded) and best interpretation of Renaissance piece;
National Competition of Zagarolo 2005 – 3rd place and prize for the best interpretation of the song of the twentieth century;
Formello Regional Competition 2006 and 2007 – 1st place pop-jazz repertoire, 2nd place contemporary repertoire;
Regional Competition of Anguillara 2008 – 1st prize ex-equo and best interpretation of Renaissance piece.
National Competition of Vasto 2008 – 1st Prize ex-equo.
Regional Competition of Anguillara 2010 – 1st prize

Very active on the educational front, the group, with the aim of making choral music known among young people, frequently performs in concerts at schools; he has collaborated, as a laboratory choir, with the Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio, in courses for teachers and choir directors; at the meeting for youth choirs in Riccione, at the Campus delle arti in San Gemini; in 2006 he was invited by Fe.N.The.A.R.Co. at the Follonica Spring Festival where he held the inaugural concert.
The choir’s repertoire includes various musical genres, from the Renaissance to pop elaborations.
He has frequent collaborations with the Musicanova choir for important productions for choir and orchestra; in March 2007 he performed in front of delegations from all over Europe on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome.
The choir deals with a varied repertoire with particular emphasis on the elaborations of pop music and folkloric roots.
Fabrizio Barchi studied at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music. He has been performing concerts since 1979 and has been involved for several years in the dissemination of choral singing in compulsory school, a topic for which he is frequently called to hold courses for teachers and choir directors.
He has collaborated with several schools of all levels on projects focused on music and singing education as an irreplaceable formative, cultural and human practice for young people; currently directs, in addition to the choir “Iride”, the choirs of the high schools “Primo Levi” and “Enriques”, the female choir “Eos”. He has directed various formations of children’s voices and collaborates with elementary schools of Ostia Lido; he carries out an intense concert activity with the choir “Musicanova” with which he has made various recordings. At the head of his groups he has won prizes and obtained awards in choral competitions both at Regional, National and International level.
He is deputy master of the Basilica of St. John Lateran and professor of Choir Direction for Didactics at the Conservatory of Campobasso
