The New Melody choir was born in March 2002 on the initiative of Maestro Alessandro Coppola and a group of young people with a passion for music and singing.
The choir was born with a Gospel repertoire, but over time it has enriched its performances ranging from gospel music to sacred and contemporary music.
The Choir has already participated in several important competitions and events receiving, in addition to the consent of the public, also important awards at national level. In 2002, in fact, after only two months from its birth, but following an intense study of selected songs, New Melody participated in the city of Formia in the National Competition of Musical Performance “‘Remigio Paone” winning the first prize with a vote of 98/100.
Since the beginning of its activity, the Choir has included among its performances also those for humanitarian purposes: for 3 years it has been at the service of Telethon, and has performed concerts for the AIRC for the purpose of raising funds for the fight against cancer.
There were also charity concerts in hospitals, such as Sandro Pertini and Don Gnocchi in Rome, and for disabled groups in “family homes”.
In 2003 New Melody was the Choir of the IV Municipio of Rome and its participation was requested to perform, accompanied by the Vincenzo Bellini Band of the Municipality itself, in front of the then mayor of Rome Valter Veltroni. In April 2003 the Choir participated in the International Music Tournament (TIM), successfully passing the selections and qualifying for the quarter-finals held in March 2004.
Important initiatives in which the choir participated were the Music and Friends festival in Barcelona (2006) and Prague (2005) Vienna (2007) Budapest (20017) and events such as “Fiori d’Arancio” and “Roma Sposa” at the Fiera di Roma.
For some years he participated in many religious events organized by the U.S.N.I.TA.L.S.I of Rome, among the important performances that at the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore in Rome and the participation, as a choir of volunteers, during the Jubilee of Mercy at St. Peter’s Basilica.
The greatest recognition that the New Melody choir has obtained since the beginning is that of the public that has always shown to appreciate both the chosen repertoire and the performances of the Choristers.
The generous acclaim received in all the performances was the main reason that pushed the New Melody Choir to do better and more.
Entertainment for neighborhood parties, private parties, weddings, sung masses, public and private events, concerts for schools, hotels, association clubs, performances in theatrical performances, and charitable initiatives are the major activities in which the choir is engaged.
