Biography

In October 2015 QuadraCoro was born, the amateur choir of quadraro, directed by Maestro Francesco Giannelli. To be part of QuadraCoro there are no age limits and it is not necessary to audition, everyone can participate, from children to adults and without discriminating between those who are more or less in tune. Many of the choristers when they started attending Sunday rehearsals did not even know how to read a score, so in addition to the pleasure and joy of singing together, the QuadraCoro rehearsals are always supported by a specific didactic approach, thanks to the constant contribution of the Teacher Sabrina de Carlo who with the Conductor represent a unique teaching combination. It is essential to want to sing in a playful atmosphere without ever giving up the importance of study, aware that studying music through the reading of the score, favors knowledge and stimulates it, thus avoiding relegating everything to a simple work of memory. Our repertoire is varied in genres and origins, includes songs of social commitment, popular songs not particularly listened to or exploited in the Italian and international music scene, but also pieces taken from the classical repertoire. Among the songs we sing there is one with a special value for us, taken from a poem by Aldo Poeta, an unpublished piece that recalls the roundup of the Quadraro of April 17, ’44. The story and the memory of a story to which we are particularly attached.

QuadraCoro is also a project of social inclusion, because it allows all those who wish to enter the world of music through singing, to be able to be part of it, in a spirit of sharing and participation.

To attend the tests, a symbolic monthly donation is required, more than anything else a motivational contribution, used exclusively to cover management costs. The Masters of QuadraCoro dedicate their time to this project without receiving any compensation and exclusively voluntarily.

Since July 2018 the Quadracoro has been constituted as a cultural association to structure more clearly its working methods and be more transparent with respect to its members and outsiders. Led by a board of directors composed of seven members, the QuadraCoro association has as President Maria Anna Tomassini and as artistic director (of course) Francesco Giannelli.
