Since its foundation (1978), the Polyphonic Choir participates in the Liturgies and Events of the precious Polyrional Temple of San Benedetto Po.
The repertoire has therefore been built in function of its own texts relating to the various periods of the liturgical season, on the basis of Gregorian chant, expanding its study in the European polyphonic heritage.
The recent union with the friends of the prestigious polyphonic choir "Cantori del Mattino" of Noceto (Parma), with which it shares methods and purposes, allows the Polyrhenian Choir to broaden its horizons and enrich experiences and perspectives. This is how the "Adolfo Tanzi" Musical Chapel was born, inspired by the teaching and memory of the great Parma musician with a Central European cultural and artistic background.
The last realization of the new Choral Formation, in order of time, was the cycle of the 8 Responsories of Holy Week by the Portuguese Baroque author Francisco Martins. In preparation are 8 other Responsories, this time of Christmas, of Estevao Lopes Morago, also a musician of the Hispanic Baroque period.
These are great (as well as unknown) masterpieces of international musical literature, worthy of being rediscovered and proposed to the public.
The Conductor, Davide Nigrelli, accompanies and shares the preparation of the Basilica Choir since its foundation, established by the then parish priest Don Angelo Panizza, in 1978; he directs the polyphonic choir "Cantori del Mattino" of Noceto and the musical chapel "Adolfo Tanzi".
