The Sa’mmalindine Choir was founded in 2005 in San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore (PE). The group, made up of 30 non-professional choristers, quickly achieves unexpected successes: it participates annually in Christmas concerts organized by the province of Pescara, as well as in numerous festivals throughout the region (Guardiagrele, Tollo, San Giovanni Teatino, Ripa Teatina, Tagliacozzo, etc.). In February 2008 he landed in Sardinia, where he participated in the famous Sartiglia performing successfully at the Teatro Garau in Oristano. In the same year he became “Ambassador of Abruzzo” in Belgium, in La Louviere, where he returned the following year for the Festa degli Italiani in Blegny (Liège). In June 2009 he participated in Spain at the International Festival Città di Calella with concerts together with choirs from all over the world. In September 2009 he was in Corazia for the International Grand Prix of Folklore and participated in Benevento at the event “Italy and Regions”. Every year on Valentine’s Day he organizes the regional festival of Abruzzo folk choirs and periodically performs in front of less fortunate people at private nursing homes and hospitals. The musical repertoire draws from the oldest and most traditional songs of Abruzzo and from songs such as G. Albanian, A. By Jorio, G. Tontodonati, E. Vetuschi and G. By Pasquale. The intent of the choir is to keep alive the echo of the past culture through songs, dances and popular poems and to continue to pass on the spirit of Abruzzo everywhere. The choir is conducted by Maestro Lorenzo D’Emilio accompanied by accordionist Francesco Monaco.
