The choir ‘DONU REALE’ of Buddusò, was born on August 3, 2008, at the behest of a group of twelve friends passionate about Sardinian choral singing. Other elements were immediately added to them, up to the current formation of 18 elements, aged between 17 and 50 years. The name of the choir comes from the homonymous locality of Buddusò, ‘Donu Reale’, located on the outskirts of the village, where stands a castle that in ancient times was the residence of the highly esteemed Doneddu family. The group, after an initial period in which he dedicated himself to the study and vocal preparation, debuts in public on July 5, 2009, on the occasion of the “II Memorial Gaetano Barilari”, organized by the Choir in collaboration with the Barilari Family.
Subsequently, having learned what are considered the “cornerstones” of the Sardinian popular repertoire, sacred and profane, the choir feels the need to better define its musical personality, through the interpretation of some poems by the refined Buddusoino poet Pinuccio Canu, set to music specifically by Maestro Mauro Lisei, who follows the artistic direction since his birth. The result of this work are the song “Ti cherzo ‘ene”, with which the choir wins the I Prize at the Ozieri biennial in 2010 and “Bisos”, with which it obtains the I Prize at the “Boghes galanas” competition of Alà dei sardi and the I prize “ex aequo” at the “Un innu pro cada tempus” competition of Gavoi, in 2011.
