The Choir 1506 of the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, established in November 2011, is directed by Maestro Augusta Sammarini with the collaboration of Maestro Valentina Bernardini as a vocal preparer.
It is a non-professional choir and is composed of Italian and foreign students, teachers, University employees and citizens united by a common passion for music and singing.
It was born with the intention of creating a meeting place for people who wish to share pleasantly, in a serene atmosphere and without competition, the experience of singing together.
Highlights in the activity of the choir are the participation in official events of the University (inauguration of the Academic Year, conferences, conferral of Honorary Degrees), public concerts, collaborations and twinning.
His repertoire consists of pieces of the cultured choral tradition ranging from sixteenth-century polyphony to contemporary authors, from folk songs to gospel.
Through the voice, a natural musical instrument, everyone can directly express their emotions; shared singing allows to develop listening to the other and mutual respect, with the common goal of growth of the group, not only musical.
Since 2014 the Choir 1506 organizes UNInCANTO national review of university choirs, an annual event where the university choral realities can meet and confront each other musically, culturally and humanly. The event immediately received a great consensus and saw the participation of important formations of the oldest and most prestigious university musical groups, obtaining the patronage of the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities and the Municipality of the City of Urbino. Every year, moreover, he participates in Masterclasses of choral singing and choir conducting held by important professionals in the sector (prof. Aldo Cicconofri of the Conservatory G. Rossini of Pesaro, Basso lirico Mirko Palazzi).
