Biography

The Sant’Ubaldo Choir, of Lago di Velo d’Astico, was born several years ago as a parish choir for the liturgical-musical animation of the Holy Mass, a service that it still carries out with perseverance and conviction, throughout the Pastoral Unit of Velo d’Astico.

The Choir has evolved into the repertoire, which embraces sacred songs by classical authors such as W.A.Mozart, J.S.Bach, L.Perosi, or more modern like M.Frisina, K.Jenkins, and also non-sacred songs, of the popular or “mountain” tradition, by authors originally from our valleys, such as Dino Stella and Bepi De Marzi, or younger ones such as Marco Maiero and Giorgio Susana.

Today it has about twenty singers. For eleven years he has been directed by Federica Bonetti and accompanied on the organ by Elisa Savio. The group is amateur and always looking for new voices that enrich the ranks.

The Sant’Ubaldo Choir is the promoter of the Concert of Santa Cecilia, now in its sixth edition in November 2019, organized in honor of this saint, patron saint of Music and Singers: a feast in the beauty of friendship, in the joy of music and in the precious gift of solidarity.

On the occasion of the Centenary of the end of the Great War, the group created and disseminated the project “An Dawn of Peace”, much appreciated for its originality in the communities where it was presented.

The spirit of the Choir is to witness to the faith and joy of being together, through the song of our time and the voice, this extraordinary instrument with which man is endowed and which so much emotion he knows how to transmit.
