MEDICAL UNIVERSITY CHOIR OF LUBLIN was founded in 1973th. The ensemble consists of students and employees of all Medical University’s departments and enthusiasts from other Lublin’s colleges. The choir has been directed by prof. Monika Mielko-Remiszewska for 30 years. This is a group of friends who also happen to win awards at international choir competitions, most recently: Gold Diploma, Special Award for the Most Interesting Interpretation of a Sacred Work, Special Award for Best Performance of a Contemporary Composer’s Work, and Special Award for the Conductor for Dramaturgy of the Competition Presentation at the VI Prof. Józef Świder International Festival of Music, Cieszyn, Poland (2021) and Grand Prix at the X International Festival of Carols and Pastorals in Rzeszów, Poland (2023).
Choir’s repertoire is varied, it includes sacred music as well as secular kinds, compositionsof all times, both old and new ones, a’cappella or accompanied by instruments. He performed, among others: C. Orff Carmina Burana, W. A. Mozart Requiem, W. A. Mozart Great Mass in c minor, L. van Beethoven IX symphony, J.S. Bach Johannes Pasion, J.S. Bach Christmas Oratorio, G.F. Haendel Messiah, J. Haydn The Creation.
The Medical University Choir of Lublin at least once a year the choir visits a foreign country. They already saw The Netherlands (1994), Italy (1996, 2001, 2005, 2010, 2016), Sweden (1997), France (1998, 2003, 2008), Germany (1999, 2015, 2017), Spain (2002, 2011), Ukraine (2004), Lithuania (2009) Croatia (2007, 2013), Turkey (2014), Greece (2017) and USA (2023).
It is worth emphasizing that the ACHUM choir consists of amateurs who usually begin their musical adventure only during their studies and learn all the musical secrets in the choir!
