The NFM Girls’ Choir, whose members are girls aged nine to eighteen, was founded in September 2022 by Andrzej Kosendiak. From the beginning, it has worked under the direction of Małgorzata Podzielny, who originated its idea. From 2023, Mikołaj Szczęsny will be the assistant artistic director of the ensemble.
Despite the short period of activity, the NFM Girls’ Choir has gained recognition for participating in the musical life of Wrocław, carrying out artistic projects in collaboration with famous conductors – including Ernst Kovacic and Enrico Onofri – and such ensembles as the European Union Baroque Orchestra, NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, LutosAir Quintet, Lutosławski Quartet, NFM Choir, NFM Boys’ Choir and Rondo Vocal Ensamble.
The choir has taken part in, among others, a concert during the Witold Lutosławski World Days, a concert of carols and pastorals, music and theatre workshops, recordings of the album Philharmonic of Mr Kleks, the 14th Leo Festival, the 22nd International Ignaz Reimann Choral Music Festival in Wambierzyce – as an honorary guest, the European Youth Festival “Fête de l’Europe” in Dresden (2023), as well as the 58th International Festival Wratislavia Cantans.
In 2023, during the 8th Prof. Józef Świder International Festival of Music, the choir won the Grand Prix of the Festival, two Golden Diplomas (in the category: sacred music, children’s and youth choirs) and a special award for the best performance of a sacred composition.
In December 2023, the ensemble’s first album was released: Mr Kleks’ Philharmonic with the participation of the NFM Boys’ Choir, the Rondo vocal ensemble and the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra. The album contains songs from films about the adventures of Mr. Kleks, arranged by Michał Ziółkowski.
