The Choir of Maritime University of Szczecin conducted by Sylwia Fabiańczyk-Makuch, PhD, has now existed for 17 years. Currently, the ensemble gathers 70 members: musicians, amateurs, enthusiasts of all kinds of music. From the beginning, the Choir was a true showcase of the city and region, representing it in the country and abroad (eg. Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Ecquador, Russia). Now the group has on its account: hundreds of concerts, over a dozen international tours, 60 major prizes at prestigious choir festivals in Poland and abroad (among them 10 Grand Prix and 38 Gold Diplomas), 8 CDs, 9 music videos and numerous premieres of contemporary music. The choir is also the author of an extraordinary project “Common Sounds” that mix choral music with other musical generes. Through its activity distinguished by passion and commitment the choir created a widely recognized image that refers to the cities maritime theme, for which the group was awarded the title of the Ambasador of Szczecin.
