SONGS
The latest work of transcription by the musician MICOL PISANU, dedicated to the seventeenth-century composer Francesca Caccini.
An edition dedicated to the “canzonette” of the composer Francesca Caccini, which represent the lightest section of her production known today.
The pieces are short and flowing, they do not have what were called durezze at the time, i.e. dissonances inserted for dramatic purposes, but only a few dissonances in passing that help to make them not obvious.
The pieces contained in the collection (of 1618):
Ch’Amor sia nudo
What have I done to you?
Who desires to know what love is
Unfold
Fresh auras
I don’t know if that smile
Or beautiful hair
Or living roses
If it moves to swear faith
If I go less
Francesca Caccini was born in Florence in 1587 to Giulio Caccini, a well-known composer, singer and instrumentalist, and Lucia Gagnolanti, a singer. As early as 1600 Francesca, at the age of thirteen, sang with her family in Peri’s L’Euridice and in Il rapimento di Cefalo by Giulio Caccini. She was nicknamed “la Cecchina”, a diminutive of Francesca, probably because of her small stature when she sang as a child.
