The student bachelor’s choir “MELOS” began its existence in 2017 on the basis of KZVO “Vinnytsia Regional Humanitarian and Pedagogical College”.
For a short period of creative activity the group found its supporters among students and teachers of the institution, leaders of school vocal and choral groups of Vinnytsia region. The choir’s repertoire has a wide range: from arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs and classical works – to modern vocal and choral music.
The educational activities of the choir are aimed at promoting vocal and choral art in secondary schools. Since 2018, the tradition of holding regional workshops for music teachers in the region with the presentation of the thematic choral program:
– 2018 – I regional workshop “In the circle of canons”, which presented the eponymous textbook of canons, based on musical material of songs of different nations, author’s canons, as well as canons included in the repertoire of school and student choirs of Vinnytsia;
– 2019 – II regional seminar-workshop “Classic crossover: at the crossroads of genres”, dedicated to the modern musical direction “classic crossover” and the possibility of using its elements in the school choir or ensemble.
In 2019, the choir became the winner of the second degree of the X International Vocal and Choral Festival-Competition “Let the Song Convene Friends”, which was held as part of the International Cultural and Artistic Project “East + West = Peace” (Chernivtsi), 2020 – International Distance Jiskra Competition (Prague) – 1st place.
The members of the choir are not only students – future music teachers, but also their teachers. The creative credo of the band is to know the world and oneself in musical co-creation.
