The CCS COGNE CRER choir is the first choral group founded in Valle d’Aosta, born in 1940 from the initiative of the Friulian Maestro Gigi Aita who moved to our mountains in those years, excellent director and composer of Villotte. The name of the choir recalls its origins, in fact the group was born from the Cultural and Sports Club of Aosta linked to the industrial workers who in those years dragged the economy and development of Aosta and the entire Aosta Valley community, the COGNE ACCIAI SPECIALI. The choir has its headquarters in the same circle from its origin to the present day.
Over the years at the helm of the group have alternated numerous masters of great value, who have left the choir a great wealth of repertoire, musical training and not least on a human level. The choir was conducted by luigi aita (founding master), Canonico Domaine, Renato Moreschini, Alearda Parisi Pettena, Corrado Margutti, Marcella Tessarin, Piermario Rudda, Davide Benetti, Alex Danna. The various conductors have made sure that the choir focuses on different aspects and realities of chorality, giving space to the traditional Aosta Valley and Italian repertoire, to sacred and profane polyphony, to spiritual, to gospel and to light music.
The CCS COGNE CRER choir has been an important vehicle to make the Aosta Valley choir known in Italy and abroad, through concerts in France, Switzerland, Greece, Austria, Spain, Africa, Hungary and Turkey. The choristers and masters have always been able to stand out for the quality of their performances and for the variety of their repertoire, also achieving important results at the competitions of Loreto, Montreux and Vittorio Veneto.
The CCS COGNE CRER choir since 2014 is directed by maestro Alex Danna and currently has 32 elements, dealing with different repertoires, from Pop to Rock, from Polyphony to ethnic music, passing to gospel and spiritual, without neglecting the popular repertoire linked to their lands. The choir celebrates this year, in 2020, its 80 years rich in history and chorality, which has always represented Aosta and the Aosta Valley without limit of national and international borders.
