The Polyphonic Choir “Johannes Obadiah” of Oppido Lucano, so called in homage to the proselyte and musician of Oppide origins who lived from 1070 to 1140 and converted to Judaism in 1102, was born in 2003 within the Local Traditions Recovery Group of Oppido and is therefore in its fourteenth year of activity.
His predominantly polyphonic repertoire ranges from experiments on popular and traditional music to light, Neapolitan, liturgical, gospel music, choirs from operas and great sacred compositions.
The most representative authors of the repertoire are: Vivaldi, Bach, Haendel, Mozart, Liszt, B. Marcello, Durante, Verdi, Rheinberger, Perosi, Mascagni.
