The Schola Cantorum parish church of San Nicola di Bari in Pratella (CE) has a long history.
It was born many years ago thanks to the diligent spirit of several people who gathered in order to animate only the parish liturgical celebrations.
Over time, however, the choir has gradually expanded, increasing not only in the number of choristers but also on the musical level.
So, after a long journey bordered by the confrontation with external realities, an increasingly concrete project has been given life that has led, thanks to the contribution provided by each chorister, to the formation of today’s reality.
At present, the choir consists of about twenty choristers and has given life to a substantial number of projects and initiatives that have allowed it to weave new relationships, not only personal, but also cultural-musical through comparison with other musical formations.
In particular, the activity of the Schola is substantiated, in addition to the ordinary liturgical animation, also of the participation in concert musical events carried out thanks to the participation of numerous musicians among these:
Marian Concert, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the birth of the choir, “With the song towards Mary… yesterday, today and always” for Schola, viola, cello and piano;
Christmas Concert “A Christmas Carol” with the participation of the string orchestra “Camerata Pentra” and the organist M° Luigi Zanni;
Christmas concert with united choirs ” Natale In-Canto.. between music and poetry” with the participation of the string orchestra “Camerata Pentra” and the organist M° Luigi Zanni”
The Schola Cantorum also participated, as a Missionary Choir, in the project carried out by the Missionary Office of the Diocese Alife-Caiazzo holding an awareness concert on the theme of solidarity at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Piedimonte Matese;
Participation in the Christmas festival of choirs held in Amorosi (BN);
Christmas concert held at the Salesians of Caserta with the participation of Maestro Angela Musco;
In February he animated the liturgical celebration at the Cathedral of Pozzuoli accompanied by the organist M° Luigi Zanni;
In the light of the various activities carried out in the field of liturgical music, for some years the Schola Cantorum has been established in the form of an association in memory of the priest “Don Giuseppe Ferrazzano” parish priest of the parish of San Nicola di Bari di Pratella who shared with the Schola many years of ministerial service standing next to the choir, also in liturgical formation.
This further step has been taken, in fact, in order to promote new activities that can range in every liturgical-musical context.
The aim pursued by the group is to spread through singing and music messages of social solidarity and continuous prayer.
At present, the presidency is assumed by Mr. Pasquale Montanaro, chorister, and coordinator of the group which, together with many other members, represents the birth of the choir itself.
New projects are currently in the pipeline which, we are sure, can be realized thanks to the community spirit and mutual respect that animates the Schola cantorum, thanks to which, it has been possible to give life to many events that have allowed the group to be known in a wide territorial range.
