The Musical Chapel Sanctuary “San Rocco” was born in November 2014 thanks to the desire of the priests of the place to give greater prestige and prominence to the diocesan Sanctuary of San Rocco, thus commissioning Maestro Carmine Lavinia to give life to a polyphonic choir in honor of the Patron Saint that could animate all the most important celebrations in the building of worship.

It consists of about 25 elements divided into four canonical sections: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.

The Musical Chapel has the role of animating all the celebrations, in honor of San Rocco, which take place inside the diocesan Sanctuary. Its presence is very important especially on the occasion of the festivities of August and September, when the Sanctuary becomes a destination for pilgrims also from regions adjacent to Basilicata, with numbers of faithful that is around ten thousand.

It is also the promoter, together with its teacher, of a review of polyphonic choirs dedicated to the saint of Montpellier. The participating choirs are varied and come from different regional and non-regional locations.

In addition to its own exhibition, the Cappella Musicale participates in many other initiatives of music-cultural exchange, with the aim of promoting and sharing more and more the beauty of choral singing.
