Biography

The POLYPHONIC CHOIR of the ASSOCIATION “THOUGHTS, MUSIC AND WORDS” (Vibo Valentia) was born in October 2013 at the behest of the founding members. It is composed of 20 singers. Although young, the Choir has already had the opportunity to draw attention and to be appreciated and appreciated by the public on several occasions, thanks also to a vast repertoire ranging from sacred classical singing to classical profane singing, passing through Gregorian chant, spiritual, gospel and popular music. The Choir, for some time now, in addition to the various seasonal concerts, takes care of the first performances of some pieces composed by its Conductor, Maestro Antonio Romano. The Choir has several concerts and events, including:

Christmas concerts 2013/2014; 2014/2015; 2015/2016; 2016/2017; 2017/2018; 2018/19; 2019/2020
The Great Concerts with choirs united in collaboration with the polyphonic choir “Don G. Macrì” of Tropea, with the provincial polyphonic choir of Vibo Valentia and with the polyphonic choir “San Sebastiano” of Pernocari (2014/2015);
Animation of the Christmas Mass presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese at the Vibo Valentia Prison (2013);
Participation in the cultural meeting – concert “W V.And.R.D.I.” organized by our Association at the Centro Sistema Bibliotecario Vibonese (Palazzo Santa Chiara) – Vibo Valentia – 11 May 2014;
Participation in the three evenings: In Hoc Passionis Tempore (moment of reflection and meditation on the Passion and Death of Jesus) by the following polyphonic choirs: Associazione Pensieri, Musica e Parole; Don G. Macri’ of Tropea; New polyphonic choir vibonese and St. Francis of Assisi of Presinaci. During the evenings, some pieces from the Passion of Christ composed by Maestro Antonio Romano were presented to united choirs.
Participation (among the 8 choirs invited and present) at the great Concert on the shore of the Strait of Reggio Calabria “On the notes of bergamot” on September 6, 2015, during which the great conductor Riccardo Frizza was present who conducted 1000 Calabrian musicians.
Participation in the conference held by Monsignor Frisina on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Diocesan Choir of Locri-Gerace during which the master presented and directed some of his last pieces.
Participation in the conference “Musical Ministries in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy” held in Soriano on 18/10/2015 by Monsignor Liberto and in the subsequent concluding Mass presided over by Monsignor Liberto himself.
Animation (together with 3 other choirs present) of the Holy Mass presided over by Cardinal Robert Sarah on the occasion of the proclamation of the Cathedral of Miletus as a Minor Basilica (18-09-2016).
Participation in the Christmas Concert of 17/12/2016 (of which the Association was the organizer) together with the Polyphonic Choir “Magnificat”, the New Polyphonic Choir of Vibo Valentia, the Polyphonic Choir “don G. Macrì” of Tropea and the Polyphonic Choir “San Francesco d’Assisi” of Presinaci (VV) which saw the participation of the youth symphony orchestra of Calabria (Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore and San Leoluca – Vibo Valentia).
Participation in the Concert with united choirs in collaboration with the polyphonic choir “Don G. Macrì” of Tropea, with the Nuova Corale Polifonica provinciale of Vibo Valentia, with the polyphonic choir “San Sebastiano” of Pernocari (VV) and with the Polyphonic Choir “San Francesco d’Assisi” of Presinaci (VV) organized by the Band Orchestra of Laureana di Borrello (RC) – Laureana, 4 January 2017.

The Spring Concert, organized by the Association “Radici per il futuro” (Former students of the Liceo Classico “Morelli”) of 25-05-2017 in memory of the Vibonese violinist Greta Medini.
“Mary between music and poetry” – concert and reflections on the Marian theme – Santa Maria del Soccorso (Vibo Valentia) – Sunday 20 May 2018, repeated at the Convent of Sant’Antonio in Rombiolo on 12/06/2018.
Participation in the “Grand Gala of Music” (on the notes of solidarity) at the Auditorium of the State Police School of Vibo Valentia, on December 6, 2018.
Epiphany Concert held at the Vibo Valentia Prison on 04/01/2019.
