The Rive del Sangro choir is a small musical formation recently established (2014), born within the Alpini group of Pescasseroli (Aq), whose name originates, as well as from the Sangro river that is born in our territory, from a passage of the commemorative inscription of the Monument to the Fallen.
Composed of about 20 singers, all men, alpine “of naia” or sympathizers, it was formed in order to consolidate and pass on the rich repertoire of popular songs that speaks of love, mountains, distant stories and legends or war, with the belief that singing can, in the latter case and together with other instruments such as photographs, films, finds, constitute an element of reflection and sharing.
Not a simple folklore then, which among other things would have a “flavor” now anachronistic, but a pleasant challenge with the technological and hyperconnected generation, for which the real events experienced a few decades ago run the risk of being simple videogames.
Desire to be together, to learn, to have fun, as well as to sing, then constitute, in spite of age, the element of union of the choristers.
The performances of the choir, on the occasion of the annual national gathering of the Alpini, have brought the name of Pescasseroli and more generally of Abruzzo, around Italy thus making them known and appreciated also for the “alpine” choral aspect as well as for the other wonders of our Region.
